The Porto Townhouse Cedofeita project, conceived by the duo Garcé and Dimofski, stands as a poetic dance between the old and the new. Nestled in the heart of Porto, in the vibrant Cedofeita district, the townhouse whispers stories of the past, this 1893’s villa has been transformed to reflect the owner’s passion for contemporary art and design.
With careful attention to every detail, Garcé and Dimofski have created a space connecting tradition with modernity where contemporary architecture harmoniously dialogues with artisanal heritage —ceramicists, carpenters, metalworkers— each of whom brings their unique craftsmanship to every detail, locally crafted in Portugal with sustainable sourced wood.
The townhouse is a quiet symphony—each room a note, each element a chord, playing harmoniously to the rhythm of the city. The primary bedroom, with its ornate decorative ceiling, embodies the architects’ focus on heritage preservation; beautiful restored wood moldings embrace every corner. The bespoke bed takes center stage, complemented by a Folke Bensow bench and a custom-designed nightstand. The living room melt classical architecture and modern, thoughtful design featuring the armchair from Studio Haos, each element is chosen to create a harmonious, inviting space.
There is an elegance in simplicity, an understated grandeur in the way the architects have preserved the soul of the building while embracing the fluidity of contemporary life.
